Rivers School Education Week Ends With Concert

Education Week at Rivers School featured visitor days, a High School Day talk by Dr. Carleton, and a Friday concert in the 1.00 F. Hall. Despite stormy weather 107 visitors attended the first three days, with trustees delivering addresses and students gaining audience experience before a lively evening program praised for its stage effects and overall effort.

Obituary of Myrtle Crittenden Widower William Critten den

Myrtle Crittenden, wife of William Critten den, died Friday February 26 at St Boniface during surgery. She was 41, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs M J Orth, born Portage la Prairie, moved to Rivers in 1908, married 1911, five children. Funeral Monday at St Boniface Cathedral with burial at St Boniface Cemetery. Survived by four daughters Catherine Mother Geraldus Jean of Providence RL, a nurse Margaret Mona at home, son Jack at home, her parents in Winnipeg, and sisters Olive and Enid. The Gazette extends sympathy.

Seed Oats Placed for Sale to Ratepayers in Daly

Atlantic to Pacific fishers back Canada’s push to boost weekly fish consumption. The drive argues Friday-only fish eating harms industry and health, noting fresher, cheaper fish and higher profits for fishermen with broader demand, citing medical experts praising fish nutrition and digestion.

Good Programme for Orchestral Concert

An Orchestral Concert will be held in the 1 C C F Hall on Wednesday March 10 under A W Whyte. The program includes Junior and Senior Orchestras instrumental solos duets quartettes vocal numbers readings by Rev E J Whiting and G Miller. Also a half hour of old and modern music by the Rivers Rangers. A dance will follow until 12 30. Proceeds go to orchestra expenses for Brandon Festival. Admission to concert and dance 25c.

United Church Lent Message and Services Ahead

The church announces next Sunday's program with Lent themes and services at 11 00 a m 3 00 p m and 7 30 p m led by Daly Pettapiece and Rivers The W M S Easter Thankoffering Meeting is set for Thursday March 18 at the church Members are urged to speak with the Pastor if considering joining the church.
