A record crowd is expected on Wednesday June 24 for Rivers annual Sports Day with 350 in prizes and a 125 04 first prize. Events include baseball softball horseshoes bicycle races and a monster dance at night in the CN R freight shed. Canadian railways offer low summer exhibition fares to major events across Brandon Calgary Edmonton Saskatoon Regina Winnipeg with a single first class round trip fare.

Regular Daly Rural Council meeting held in Rivers on June 2 with full attendance. Topics include correspondence on John Thomson and others, road condition complaints, hospital notice, Salvation Army grant of 1000, hay and pasture privileges, and approval of the Official Receiver's report. Finance recommends paying all balances. council adjourned to July 7.

Rivers Players in Provincial Festival

The Rivers Players staged The Drums of Dude in Winnipeg on Friday as their provincial festival entry. Although they did not win honors, the troupe enjoyed the city engagement. They also performed in Lenore on Tuesday as part of the Chautauqua program.

Pioneer Wom. Smith Dies at Oak River Home at 82

Ten years ago in the Gazette this week the Oak River district mourns the loss of Wom. Smith pioneer aged 82 who died at his home. Brandon Fair to Present Mammoth Show

Plans for Manito ba Provincial Exhibition 1936 near completion with an outdoor summer program featuring new exhibits and an expanded midway. Directors launch a half price advance ticket campaign for June 29 to July 3 offering five new cars as prizes and enabling ticket holders to win without attending the Fair. Royal American Shows will return with 1200 performers to set up the Mammoth Midway July 25 to July 3.
