Local notes report Jas Taylor Jr. visiting Winnipeg parents and Constance Often planning a two week Clear Lake holiday. Numerous visits, arrivals, and farewells feature residents from Rivers, Dal y and area including wartime enlistments, hospital plans, and a plane crash near Letellier that killed four airmen. The Rivers Oldtimers picnic was canceled. A Masonic Lodge event with Grand Master S. Fahrni highlighted the week.
Florence holder of the Distinguished Flying Cross and a member of the instructional staff at No.1 Central Navigation School at Rivers recalls an overseas flight where his Scot tail gunner spoke with a broad accent that made it hard to understand him as he warned of an approaching German plane.
Locomotives of the new 6200 class join CN Rail's motive power lineup. They haul large trains over long runs from Halifax to distant destinations, signaling improved efficiency and power for the network.
