Nurse Betty Lachuck departed Thursday for Cochrane Ontario to practice nursing at the local hospital, continuing her professional career in the new posting.
The Rivers branch of the Red Cross acknowledges receipt of a cheque for 15 dollars from the shareholders of the former Myra Reef Ring. The donation is greatly appreciated by the branch and recipients.
Dancing at In Frame’s Community Hall with two upcoming events listed. Friday August 7 features Avalonians with admission 35 cents. Wednesday August 12 showcases Lorne McCallum and his Midnite Moon Moths, admission again 35 cents.
Local residents and visitors share extended holidays and weekend visits. Wives husbands and families travel to Winnipeg Brandon Dauphin Windsor Ontario and other locations. Notables include Flight Lieutenant J P Cooper addressing a memorial service in Rapid City and Group Captain Lewis moving into the former Taylor cottage.

Miss Dorothy Adams of Manitou visits her cousin Miss Freda Wareham for a week or two, staying with family and enjoying time together in the city.
The post offices issue measures to free ocean transportation for war essentials. From August 10 complete newspapers or periodicals must not be accepted for civilian or troop delivery to the United Kingdom Central and South America Bermuda and the West Indies. Patrons should mail clippings of special interest instead.
