A Monday evening gathering at Mr and Mrs Sargent home honored their many years of service. Rev Anderson spoke of the farewell, Mrs Often read an address, and Mrs Britto presented a silver tea set to mark their silver wedding.
The Rivers Loyal Orange Lodge No. 1944 and visitors from Oak River attended a Sunday union service at the Methodist Church led by Rev. H. B. Duckworth. He argued that a true Orangeman is Christian and upholds universal liberty and welfare. Mrs Taylor and Mrs Sargent sang a duet. Back at the hall, the brethren thanked Duckworth and James Higginson served as marshal. Gazette to Jan 1, 1920, 50c.
