Curling Club selects rinks and skips for the second schedule in Friday meeting chaired by Alf Wareham. A double draw will run Wednesdays at 6 30 and 8 30 pm with penalties for late teams and scorekeeping by the umpire.
A Wednesday gathering of the Old-Timers Association saw lively attendance with card winners named. Ladies’ first went to Mrs J Cliff, Consolation to Lottie Blandford, Gents’ first to Rigginson, Consolation to Joe Kolatýlo, followed by a loud end with dancing.
Regular Rivers Town Council meeting on February 7 with Mayor Dunsmore presiding. Resolutions authorized last meetings’ minutes, set council accounts for General and Electric Light, approved By laws 298 and 299, vowed government cooperation, protested relief funding limits, and postponed G Kryvenk tax appeal. Tax rate set at 47 mills with October 1 payment deadline and 34 monthly penalty if unpaid. meeting adjourned.
