A Thursday evening wedding shower for Mr and Mrs Walter Sargent was held at Mr and Mrs A J Madden's home. Guests included many families and friends, gifts displayed on a table and a locked chest, advice read by Mr Bate and Archie McKellar, lunch served, and dancing to conclude a pleasant occasion.
Thieves took 52 Leghorns from James Higginson in the district while a Curling Club event charged admission of 200 for non members and 1 for members. Fred Stanley Pendennis saw his farm home burn to the ground as Bert Varcoe and Wm Harvey visited Vancouver. Edythe Mitchell won first prize at a Rivers Daly School Trustees spelling match.

The Rivera Juveniles defeated the Seniors 14 to 6 last Friday January 28 led by P Bellamy with three goals and Riddick Tivy and Daniel adding two each. Seniors E Kryvenki Maksymczuk and Higginson scoring but unable to contain the Juvenile surge as Bellamy stopped many shots.

Pupils of Alex Whyte and Miss Brandon held a joint recital in the United Church annex on a Wednesday evening. A good audience enjoyed violin and piano solos and duets, with Bob Radcliffe serving as chairman.
Rev. E. J. Whiting rector of St James will exchange with the Daly pastor conducting services at Daly 11.00 am Pettapiece 3.00 pm and Rivers 7.30 pm under the theme Are You Afraid. Congregations invited to welcome Mr Whiting during his visit.
The Anglican News notes Rev W Harland of the United Church will preach at both Roseville services. Special preacher at 3.00 pm and 7.30 pm services is Rev E J Whiting L Th Rector. Sunday School starts at 2.00 pm. The message emphasizes unity in faith in these days of doubt.
