Interest ran high over the Boys Parliament race with Charles F Howard and Percy Neville as top contenders in the district. Charles Howard Jr. edged ahead at the polls and will represent Rivers in the local body.
A message to the electors of District No 4 from Rivers supporters thanks voters for their recent election support. The writer pledges to uphold the approved platform and do their best.
In New York a youthful Hebrew attorney faced uncertainty over his fee after a case won. Senior counsel Joseph Choate advised him to rely on him, planning to double the amount and issue a cheque for half. Days later the cheque arrived ten times the expected sum. The grateful recipient wrote compliments and a playful line of thanks.
Rivers Con. SD trustees met to close the school for Christmas Friday and reopen January 3. Fifteen bids for 1923 Ave van routes were received. contracts awarded to Andrew Dobson 4.75 per day, W E Stewart 5.00, A J Madden 4.75, Wm Rea 4.00, H Porteous 5.00. Chairman R N Dunsmore paid tribute to retiring members F W Buggey and T W Offell for years of service.
St James Amateur Dramatic Club staged the Comedy Our Boys on Monday followed by a Waltzing Competition. Miss Gladys Densmore and Mr Moore won, with Brown Cunningham and Major close behind. President W G Thomas thanks Thompson and Heliors of the Bijou Theatre and Jos Thompson for their help making the event a success.
A school note from Tuxis highlights a mis-scheduled Midweek meeting and resolves not to repeat it. It reports Chas Howard winning a boys Parliament seat and W Andrews another district win. A skiing and toboggan party is planned at Union Church with a weiner feed if weather allows.
At Rivers on Thursday December 14 1922 a daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Ernest Wareham of Carnegie.
At Rivers on Saturday December 16 1922 Mr and Mrs Chas Blandford welcomed a daughter in a brief family notice with the couple and location.
The family of the late Mrs Pris cilla Porteous expresses deep gratitude to many friends for kindnesses shown during illness and after their mother's death.

Word spread early in the week that a Provincial Constable would be stationed at Rivers. On Tuesday evening Constable Parcell arrived to assume duties. Mr Purcell, selected for the post, is praised for fitness and readiness to uphold authority. He previously served with the Royal Irish Constabulary and recently worked at the border during the bank bandit scare.
A stormy Tuesday election for Ward 2 School Trustee results in Dr Lyon winning the seat for 1923 24. R N Dunsmore serves as the other Ward 2 member with a term expiring next December.
The town mourns Priscilla Porteous a longtime resident of Daly district and Rivers who died after a short illness at mid night Tuesday the 12th. Funeral held at the Asien Church in severe weather with many floral tributes. She leaves two sisters two brothers two daughters Mrs Alt and Mrs Jos Dyer and son Harry plus a younger son Nelson a war casualty.
