United Church Ladies Christmas Bazaar Opens with Tea
The United Church W.A. sponsored bazaar and tea at Four Star hall on Saturday afternoon drew strong support. Mrs. H. Dodd officially opened the event. Five W.A. groups participated with Miss Jean Johnstone winning a fruit cake donated by Mrs. J. A. McKenzie in the auction. Christmas carols were sung and decorations impressed attendees.

Portage la Prairie town council on Monday evening warned E P Schulz that unless he proceeds with plans to build a jewelry store by January 1, 1949 his money will be refunded and the sale of land on Second Avenue 300 block cancelled. Councillors called the partially-dug basement and unsafe board guard around the hole a hazard and said fathers would erect another railing to prevent injuries.
