Golden Anniversary of Pettapie WMS Observed

The Pettapiece WMS marked its 30th anniversary on November 21 with members and visitors from Minnedosa Rapid City and Rivers. The last charter member Mrs T Wolstenholme of Minnedosa laid flowers in memory of the founders. Grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mrs M Pettapiece represented the society’s first president. The pioneer ladies organization began January 2 1898.

Rebekahs Elect Officers For Next Year

Officers for the coming year were elected at the regular meeting of Friendship Rebekah lodge last Thursday evening. They were Mrs. M. Stevenson N.G. Mrs. A. Elliott V.G. Mrs M. Jelliff R.S. Mrs. A. Stevenson F.S. Mrs. M. Davis Treasurer. Montreal CP Juveniles at Mont St Antoine reform school to learn trades and study courses to rehabilitate delinquent teens. Kirkland Lake News notes a perfume ad campaign in the Mid West Far West era. A printer accidentally scented ink for a newspaper issue causing a pungent paper. Complaints included a reader’s wish for hamburger scent to be more wholesome. Marketing reports swing toward self service in retail meat departments with hundreds of markets adopting it. Pre packed fresh meats sold in red tail stores with more self service packages.
