The annual Variety Concert of the Rivers School Orchestra on Tuesday evening drew a large appreciative audience enjoying a really fine program.
The Rivers Curling Club announced its elected ships: W. L. Stewart Robin Offen C. Gabe Bert Taylor R. Moxley W. Stevenson Miss Musgrove M. Henderson Alf Wareham J Collingwood C Nowe and F Taylor. The Community Club repeats The Ghost Bird amid many requests. A Y P A of St James stage a Mock Trial. Major F G Taylor J Bernier and Sanford Evans to address a public meeting in Wagar Hall. The Community Club opens the season with a dansant tickets 1.50 per couple. J Irwin opens a barber shop in Machans pool room. B L Brown transferred to Moosomin.
Mrs Margaret McKay visited Winnipeg for the week Albert Wareham spent two or three days in Winnipeg on business Ernest Wareham of the R C A F came home from Gimli for a couple of days Mrs Renner of Gull Lake Man returned home after visiting her daughter Mrs Gilbert Parker for a couple of weeks Ken Butler of the R C A F at an eastern station sent a short poem which may be published later Mr A Whyte of Kenton visited his son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Alex Whyte Also a guest at the Whyte home was Mrs D Fraser Kenton S R Biglow formerly of Rivers Bakery now in the Canadian Army overseas wrote recently to Albert Wareham Sid is visiting principal cities and sights and asks for Gazette copies At Rivers Masonic Lodge meeting Rt Wor Bro W E Wiltsey D D G M Fifth Masonic District visited with Cardale brethren after business and degree work a social time and refreshments The Editor received a Christmas card from Fred Bradt overseas serving his country Fred was a neighbor since childhood and enjoys the Gazette He is one of the three sons of Mr and Mrs Amos Bradt all overseas May good luck attend them.
Margery Hurlburt daughter of W O Hurlburt Calgary married LAC Jas H Carey son of J Carey Toronto at St Marys Anglican Church Brandon on Monday November 15. Rev John R Flagler officiated with Fit Sgt J Hilton giving the bride in marriage. A reception followed at 140 Third St Brandon. The couple honeymooned briefly at Neepawa and Dauphin and returned to Rivers where they are stationed at No 1 C N 58.
