Rivers School Trustees met on Wednesday April 3 and approved multiple actions. They appointed J H Conch as Chairman in Bowman’s absence, adopted February 6 minutes, instructed Attendance Officer to visit weekly, received the Inspector’s report, filed Red Cross communication, and approved accounts of £26584. Death of Mrs Sallans Former Rivers Resident
Mrs Sallans wife of Rev W B Sallans former Rivers United Church minister died in Indian Head Saskatchewan on March 22 after a long illness. Town residents recall her gracious Christian influence and extend sympathy to her husband and family.

Rev S D Thomas will attend the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco as representative of the Canadian Government. Curlers will attend the Methodist Church next Sunday and be addressed by Chaplain Wilson.

Experimental Farm Notes on Early Oat Varieties
The Brandon Experimental Farm tested early oat varieties against the standard Banner and Victory. Gopher from Minnesota and White Cross from Wisconsin showed yields of 78 and 7 bushels per acre respectively over six years on summer fallow. Banner and Victory yielded 82 and 80 bushels. Maturity ranged 85 to 96 days, straw lengths 30 to 40 inches, with Gopher the top early yielder. Under dry conditions short straw in Gopher could be a drawback and a 10 day maturity gap balances a 4 bushel yield difference with Copner.

United Church Prepares Easter Sunday Services and New Members
The United Church announces next Sunday April 14 services including a sermon on What shall I do then with Jesus who is called Christ.
