Red Cross Notes Supplies Packed and Meetings Planned
The Red Cross reports packed items last Friday including 12 suits 5 dressing gowns 23 pairs socks and 7 handkerchiefs. A meeting approved thanks to Knox Church and Mrs H Nesbitt for transport of Pte MacDonald. An April 12 tea meeting at Mrs Johnstone's and an upcoming prayer meeting are announced. Tickets for a Church of England picture donation are on sale at Mr Thomson’s store and the Gazette Office.

Local Labor to Build New Hotel Soon
Mr Dynes plans to hire local labor as quickly as possible to staff a new hotel while a successful minstrel show Friday night raised over 200 dollars. Mr and Mrs Dodson return to their farm at Wheatland after wintering in Brandon.

Escaped Prisoner of War Tells Story
Pte. Frank Mac Donald of the 1st C. M. R. spoke at the Presbyterian Church on Thursday about his German POW experiences. Despite short notice, Red Cross workers organized a talk that drew a full house and over $60 in receipts. He recounted capture, camp life, and multiple escape attempts, praising Red Cross aid for prisoners and condemning German brutality.

Gopher Tail Reward Program for Schools
The Department of Agriculture offers one cent per gopher tail to schools that bring in over 500 tails by May 10. Rewards include gramophones and playground outfits for one room schools finishing first to third, with larger prizes for consolidated or village schools. Town of Rivers Notice on Assessment Roll 1918
By resolution the Rivers Council adopts the 1918 assessment roll subject to revisions. It may be inspected at the Town Hall until April 17 1918. The Council will sit as a Court of Revision on April 24 1918 at 8 p.m. in the Council Chamber to hear complaints. All complaints must reach the office by the stated deadline.
