An early Holy Communion opening at St James Church marked Easter Day services with simple floral decor. The rector’s sermon focused on Easter renewal and living higher ideals as the choir performed Hallelujah Christ is Risen. Good Friday featured a solemn service with a brief address and the Litany.
Footballers and others invited to a Town Hall meeting on Saturday April 7 at 8 p m to discuss season programme and section officers. Organizers aim to put Rivers on the map with a strong team this year.
Rev. Nelson C. Smith formerly a Glenboro Manitoba rector and former Rivers Railway Shops mechanic has been named Rural Dean of Dufferin Deanery. His duties cover parishes along the C R from Belmont to Roland and Carman and along the CPR from Glenboro to Elm Creek.
The annual meeting of the curling club will be held Thursday evening April 5 at 8 o clock in town hall. Agenda includes business hearings of reports election of officers and necessary business. All members urged to attend. H A Ireland Secretary Treasurer.
Seniors of St James Sunday School held a farewell supper at Mrs Eli Forman's home to honor Joyce and Bert McNevin departing for Winnipeg. Elsie Barker spoke to Joyce, Sadie Archambault gave a gold ring, and Darcy Howard presented Bert with a book before singing and good wishes.
The Sunday School celebrated Easter with a special service and full church. The Choir performed the three division cantata Immortality explained by Rev. S A Martin and praised for its Easter spirit. Special thanks go to Miss Murdoch and Mr. McKenzie for their preparation efforts.

The Bijou Theatre will show Footfalls next Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14, a Fox super special praised as a groundbreaking motion picture. The mystery drama follows blind cobbler Hiram Scudder whose keen hearing identifies residents by footfalls and hints at an impending return of an assassin. Admission is 10 and 25 cents.

The Curling Club led by a piper attended church last Sunday with Chaplain Wilson speaking on The Game of Life. J. C. Cousins became agent for the Manitoba Government Telephones and a minstrel show directed by Jas. A. McKenzie with Chas Howard as interlocutor was set for tonight.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs A M Stewart on Friday March 30 at Rivers. The birth adds a new member to the family and follows traditional naming customs in the household.
