The Rivers Curling Club will hold its annual meeting at the Town Hall on Friday evening April 3 at 8 o’clock to wind up the season. Presentations of cups and prizes to the scheduled winners will take place. Who wins the prizes for points remains to be seen. Attend Friday night to find out.
Canadian National Railways reports western line grain loadings for March 13 to 19 show an increase of more than 300 cars compared with the same week last year reflecting stronger shipments.
A party of 53 Mennonites passed through Winnipeg over Canadian National lines from theene r Ontario. They head to farms awaiting them near Elkhorn Dominion City Marquette Rosthern and Meadows in Saskatchewan and Manitoba destinations.
The regular monthly Rivers Community Club gathering will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Anear on Monday April 6 at 730 PM Members interested in tennis are urged to attend be prompt and bring ideas.
River branch Red Cross executives met Friday to approve Dr Murdoch dentist to visit the district soon. Sent by Provincial Red Cross he will focus on school children and act in an advisory capacity with modest fees for the welfare of growing children.
This week in Katie Crosby, a well known local girl, died on Monday after much suffering. The town has one resident minister though three denominations hold services each Sunday. The Gem moving picture theatre on Main Street opened for the first time Saturday by EK D Button.
The Right Reverend Lord Bishop of Brandon will visit Russell on Monday to induct Rev. N. C. Smith with an 8 p.m. ceremony at Christ Church. Local notices mention spring activities and varied community updates.
The Canadian Pacific coastal steamer Princess Kathleen arrived in Victoria B C from the Clyde Scotland. A civic dinner honored Captain J W Troup manager of BC coast service with about 200 citizens present including Mayor and aldermen. Vancouver officials and CP leaders from Montreal Winnipeg and Victoria attended.
