Jordan advances from Rivers girl’s rugby to Manitoba provincials
Twelve year old Jordan McLeod from Rivers area rose from Rivers Collegiate to join Manitoba’s under-18 rugby squad after a pay-to-play Saskatoon regional. She helped Grade 9 12 players reach divisionals, finished third, then toured Winnipeg Portage la Prairie Brandon for six hour practices before Manitoba claimed first place. Jordan aims for provincial 7s and a Las Vegas winter 2017 trip.

Hockey school donates thousands to river facility upgrades
RCC Hockey Camp director Derek Laxdal and coordinators announce an addendum to the Aug 12 Rivers Banner report. The Riverdale Community Centre event raised 5000 for ice rental and 8750 for Rivers Recreation Facilities Review Committee, totaling 25000 and 49750 respectively over five years. Next year’s camp runs July 31 to Aug 4 with 81 registered participants.
