Canadian cattle markets move higher on week ending Nov 22
Canfax reports upturn after a long five dollar range as Western Canadian fed cattle rise to the strongest level since mid August. Dressed sales ranged 405 to 408 per hundredweight delivered with December delivery on the books. Alberta auctions fell below five year average at 54,198 head as fall volumes near December. Calves and stockers gained about 11.7 per cwt while 900 lb steers eased about 3.43. Manitoba marts moved 11,165 head last week with year to date 284,000 sold, up 1 percent. Heifer and steer calf prices are higher versus 2023 by 0.33 to 1.02 per pound depending on weight.
