Susan Anderson of Rivers won second place in the 1982 Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 75 poetry contest. The piece recalls Remembrance Day and honors those who died for freedom, with lines about Flanders Fields and the red poppy symbol.
On Sunday November 5 Dale and Jocelyn Beever moved cattle two miles southeast of Rivers when a train started crossing the trestle as the herd passed beneath. Jocelyn shared the moment with readers.
