CNR Train Derailment Near Rivers Recalled in History
John Jordens recalls a 50 year old CNR derailment west of Rivers when a Edmonton to Winnipeg passenger train left the rails on June 22. The engine and three cars derailed to the dirt, a wrecking crew rebuilt the track and traffic resumed later that day with no injuries among about 20 passengers.

Recollections of the Railway in Rivers by Bob Tivy
A reminiscence of Rivers railway life from the steam era. It recalls the mountain 6000s hauling the Continental Limited and Mikado freights, yard goats, and local switchers, plus the transition to diesel power and the loss of rail facilities. The piece notes a 1996 removal of remaining relics and mourns the vanished era.
