River town memories span nine decades of change
A collage of oblique milestones from 1913 to 1973 chronicles local life in Rivers. Entries include an open air dance at a new hotel near the train station, a $20,000 public improvements bylaw, cement foundations for a railway bridge, relief camp buildings, ministerial changes, a car crash on Oak River bridge, Ford’s planned Rivers visit for the 50th anniversary, hospital practices, anniversaries, hotel management, and notable weddings and civic events.
