Book on Anje van Tongeren’s wartime life linked to Rivers
A Manitoba author Lenore Eidse launches The House of Blood and Tears a 446 page biography of 88 year old Anje van Tongeren recounting her Dutch underground work during World War II. The book covers Anje and family life in Rivers Manitoba from the 1950s to 1980s and includes her survival as a courier and forger and later stories of escape and liberation. The book notes her 51 years before speaking about the war and cites sources from the Jewish Tribune and CBC TV.
