Weather boosts crops but raises disease risk this season
Cooler temperatures and last week’s rains aid canola and barley, easing heat stress and supporting yields. Yet conditions favor fungal diseases, boosting fungicide value. Wheat yield estimates rely on row spacing, heads per plant, and seeds per head to project bushels per acre. Blackleg in canola poses a serious risk, with early injury and lodging limiting nutrient flow and causing plant death once lesions form.
