Angie Lau retires after 36 years running Angie's Hair Salon

Angela Lau retires October 30 2021 after over 36 years owning Angie's Hair Salon in Rivers. Born in Hong Kong and married to Henry since 1968, the couple moved from Winnipeg to Virden to Rivers. Angie opened the salon in 1985 after hairdressing training in Brandon and building a lifelong client base.

Fred and June Smith celebrate 70th anniversary

Local residents Fred and June Smith marked a 70 year union dating from December 6, 1951. The couple wed in Rivers and celebrated with family at the former Ukrainian Hall now Zion Church. They met in Rapid City and once competed at Brandon fair, later becoming avid curlers. They reside in Rivers and have three children, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
