Four Murders Shake Manitoba In First Four Days Of Year
The start of January brings four homicide cases across Manitoba. A 16 year old is stabbed at a Selkirk house party, a 25 year old Pallingassi woman dies after being stabbed, and a 29 year old common law husband is charged with second degree murder. In Steinbach a 20 year old is shot and a second man fatally shoots himself. A Winnipeg 28 year old, eight months pregnant, is shot through a door. a 42 year old man is found shot in an inner city backyard. Authorities note province wide spread, alcohol factor in one case, and no single pattern. The piece questions whether this signals wider trends or post holiday blues.
