Riverdale Arena shutters after decades as community hub

Riverdale Community Gardens arena on Columbia Street closed December 23 after 60 years of winter ice sports, shows and events. The building, dating to 1947, faced ongoing roof and moisture issues, with a new recreation complex planned one block east and set to open officially after the shutdown.
