Canada names new pear Harovin Sundown after vote
AAFC scientists unveil Harovin Sundown as the official name for a pear developed over 35 years. More than 11,000 voters online and at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair chose the name, with a clear win over HW614. Growers in Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia supported the selection announced February 20, 2008 at the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Conference in St Catharines.
