Desert plants bloom at Angie's Hair Salon in Rivers
Sheila Runior notes plants at Angie's Hair Salon and Gift Shop in Rivers thrived this winter. An aloe vera stalk bloomed for the first time in six years, producing yellow flowers on three stems, while a queen of the night cactus flowered at night after being propagated from a slip. The plant is described as a desert species with rare blooms, often reaching four to eight feet in height, and currently protected in areas like the Gila River Indian Reservation. Lau offers slips to interested clients.
