Tremendous Pontiac Potatoes Unearthed by Rivers Man
Fred Smith of Rivers stopped by the newspaper office on Wednesday August 19 after unearthing a massive hill of potatoes. He notes a previous plant produced 32 tubers, but 12 of the current potatoes were larger than his hand. A bill of 29 filled a brown bag to overflow and weighed 16 pounds. Smith bought the Pontiac seed from Rivers Home Hardware this spring.
