Rivers prairie to face controlled burn plan near Rivers
Native grasslands at Rivers will undergo managed burning this spring to curb non native species and renew native grasses. Habitat experts say fire helps reduce thatch and shrub buildup while preserving wildlife habitat and nesting areas for species like sharp tailed grouse. Two tracts Crown land by the park and Wareham piece will be burned with safety crews and local fire departments on hand.
