Town budget meeting in Rivers outlines cautious 2008 plan
Fewer than 40 residents attended the taped public meeting at Rivers Ukrainian Hall to hear a 55 minute budget briefing. Finance chair Tim Gray outlined a 2.26 mill increase, tax revenue up about 4 percent and utilities/other revenues rising as costs grow. The town remains debt free with strong reserves as council plans a $2 million recreation facilities project funded by borrowing and reserves, plus a potential $3 million grant after meetings with provincial minister Ron Lemieux.
