Bradwardine Fire History Ends With Major Loss in 2016
The town’s fire history includes 1905 CPR section house loss, 1910 Hotel Windsor blaze, and a devastating 1910s fire that left seven businesses gone. On April 13, 2016 a large blaze consumed three quarters of a block, destroying an old hall, greenhouse, and several residences. The disaster left five residents in a dwindling hamlet and caused extensive losses including a hall used by seven families and valued personal property. The fire started when Mary Bernadette Epworth burned garbage and sparks spread on a windy day, impacting Richardson Avenue and nearby lanes.
