Legion News highlights and wartime remembrance in Rivers
The April 10 general meeting chaired by Comrade President Danny Johnson set Legion Week for Sept 17 23 with activity ideas to discuss in May. Donations were approved for the MS Super Cities Walk Circus Daddy and Rivers Youth Soccer. The joint meeting with the Ladies Auxiliary is planned for April 24. A 75th anniversary plan includes 3000 tulips in Legion colours for Rivers. Lest We Forget recalls the April 29 1945 Canadian Navy battle in which convoy RA 66 fought off U boats with one escort ship hit and no ships lost. The recreation office opens April 10 with three willow chaise lounge classes left for April 29 30 and space to fill by April 25.
