The Manitoba government awarded KGS Group Limited the contract to design rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Rivers Dam on Lake Wahtopanah. The project aims to protect communities from flood risk following 2020 heavy rains and ensure dam safety to provincial and national standards.
Rivers and Area Game and Fish Association honors two long time members at its annual general meeting. Ron Taylor presented plaques to Mike Maloney and Garry Genaille both charter members dating back over 25 years. Garry served as President and Treasurer for two years each. Manitoba Wildlife Federation reports 49 wild turkeys relocated this winter in Riverdale Municipality. Bruno Brueherlin trapped 17 birds in March and relocated them to Rhoda Foote and Jason Lamb’s farm on Mar 3 10 and 13. Lee Robins organized trapping east of Wawanesa. 32 birds were released earlier in February on Ann and Colin Hunter’s farm.
The province advances flood resilience with dam rehabilitation to Canadian standards and preliminary designs for permanent repairs at Rivers Dam. Construction starts 2023, lasting about three years, with public engagement in coming months.
