Folk Loses Back Pay Over Circuit Attorney Salary
Gov Folk sued for back pay at 5000 a year claiming entitlement to the higher rate during his term as circuit attorney. Circuit Judge Kinsey ruled the salary due is 4000 a year, yielding 2052.36 in back pay from St Louis rather than 5833. The legislature had raised the salary to 5000, but the court held the increase did not apply to Folk’s incumbency. Folk rejected the higher pay and filed suit to recover the back amount.
