Local men enlist as Aviation cadets in Army Air Forces
Two local youths Clarence Simnick and Arthur Larson were sworn in as Aviation cadets by the Army Aviation Cadet Board. Simnick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Simnick, Riverdale, attended Leo High School and Lewis School of Aeronautics before Navy takeover. Larson, son of Mrs. Anna Schultz of Dalton, attended Thornton Township High and Illinois Tech and was National Honor Society. They passed a mental test, board interview, and physical exam to qualify for a commission as second lieutenant or flight officer.
