Dog Racing Halted by Illinois Supreme Court Refusal
Justice Frederic R. De Young of the Illinois Supreme Court refused to issue a temporary injunction sought by Thornton dog track to restrain the state attorney’s office and the sheriff from interfering with betting at the nearby track. An appeal could not be heard until October term, likely too late for fall racing in Cook County. Earlier Judge Lindsay refused betting at the track. Judge Williams later granted an injunction blocking law enforcement interference, later voided by Judge David who called dog racing a cheating racket.
