The South Holland Illinois office now operates from a residence one block west and two blocks north of the post office. It closes all day Wednesday and Thursday in summer, and remains open Monday Tuesday Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Tuesday and Friday evenings 6:30 to 8:30.

Sewing and Soccer Start Up At Local School
Sewing classes resumed with Eleven new girls joining. The first project is an electric lamp under teacher Mr Zehner. Sewing runs Sept 18 to finish basket trays begun last June. The boy soccer team, with players from 6th to 8th grade, practices daily and a second strong team from 5th and 6th grades provides good practice.

Death of Pioneer Fred Roth Ends Era in Thornton and Chicago Heights
Fred Roth 77 longtime pioneer resident of Thornton and Chicago Heights died Wednesday at his brother John Roths home. Born in Germany in 1851 he came to America at six and witnessed Chicago Heights grow from prairie to a major city. He lived in Thornton most of his life except six years farming in Iowa and three years in ill health in Chicago Heights. His wife Mary Miller died six years ago and their daughter Anna died at 19 thirty three years ago. He remembered early community history including Civil War era migration and the towns transformation.

Monee Fair Set for September 18 19 and 20
The 25th annual Monee Fair will be held in Monee Will County on September 18 19 and 20. The event features livestock shows an agricultural exposition baseball games ban concerts races dancing and free vaudeville acts with fireworks in the evenings. The fair attracts a large crowd and organizers expect it to be the best yet.
