Grenades Turned Into Savings Banks For Industrial Workers
The War Department plans to convert 15 million hand grenades into personal savings devices through Government Savings Societies. About 20 000 industrial organizations are lined up with at least 100 000 to join, each grenade bank holding a purse of coins. Workers obtain one by buying three War Savings Stamps at once or one stamp a month for three months, then receive the bank via their plant’s War Savings Society. The banks function as personal savings tools and aid purchases of Treasury Savings Certificates.
