Thornton High School Seeks Government Sponsored Expansion
The Thornton High School Board faces a capacity shortfall of about 500 students amid growing enrollment. Superintendent McVey cites enrollment rises from 887 in 1918-19 to 1901 in 1933-34 and describes crowded classrooms and poor auditorium conditions. The government offers 30 percent grant and a 4 percent loan over twenty years to fund a new unit, which would provide work relief and ease space shortages.
