Good Samaritan Helps Driver in Flaming Expressway Car
A passing trucker aided a driver as a car caught fire on the Calumet Expressway north of Rt. 6. South Holland police spotted the blaze during a routine patrol and alerted the fire department. The tank truck moved away when flames threatened it, while the trucker stayed to explain the tank’s presence.

Pick Up Two Men In Stolen Car
Two men, Donald Richards and Jerry Lee Osborne, were taken into custody after a stolen station wagon was spotted by Officer Raymond A. Johnson near Route 6 and the Calumet Expressway. Crossing Guard Injured While On Duty
Thomas Zavidosky of 1259 and Thornridge High School crossing guard Richard Jaeger of 14721 Chicago Road Dolton were involved in separate incidents. Jaeger received oxygen from Dolton Fire Department and was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital Harvey after collapsing at Sibley and Cottage Grove. A separate accident on Oct 13 in South Holland damaged Zavidosky’s car after a collision with a fireplug and light pole at 16500 South Park.
