Fire Chiefs Explain Ventilation Over Window Breaks
Fire Chiefs Henry Mohr and Edward Kipley urge proper ventilation during fires arguing that opening roofs and breaking windows reduces fire loss. They say smoke and gases spread quickly without venting, hindering locating the fire and increasing water use and danger. They compare firefighting to a life saving amputation to justify opening up a building.
