Strike Ties Up Coal Yard As Union Officials Face Subpoenas
Federal grand jury subpoenas issued for James “Lefty” Lynch and five other Coal Teamsters Local 704 leaders after they ordered a south side coal yard strike delaying twenty five car loads of coal. Lynch defied authorities while William O Rourke of the South Eastern Coal Co faced resistance and a picket line hindered unloading. Denton officials vowed warrants to prevent future stoppages harming Chicago residents this winter.
