Thornton School Plans New Fieldhouse Gym
The District 205 Board authorized Joseph P. Llewellyn to proceed with additions and alterations to the Thornton Township High School physical education facilities. Construction, part two of the program, is set to start after this football season and finish by next fall. A fieldhouse style gym for both sexes will be built beside the spectator gym at 150th and Broadway, reusing part of the current gridiron. The football field will be moved to the Buda gym site, which will be removed. The project also adds a wrestling gym, improved dance gym, corrective gym, apparatus room, lobby for display cases, and new offices for girls’ PE instructors.
