Riverdale board weighs viaduct deal with railroad
At a special Riverdale meeting the board discussed Indiana Harbor Belt plans for a 124 foot macadam street and a concrete viaduct over the tracks at School Street if the village removes existing wooden viaducts. The village seeks a settlement on liability and costs in potential damage suits while engineers note the railroad’s extensive concessions and need for the crossing as tracks expand. The matter was laid over for further negotiation as trustees review who bears damages and costs.
