The American Legion Paul Gall Post will hold a Memorial Day parade Wednesday at 1 30 p m along Wabash Avenue between 137th and 139th streets in Riverdale. Memorial services follow at Oakland Cemetery in Dalton with Lt Col Luther G Schliesser as guest speaker. Post Commander Marlin Wilmot urges patriotic groups to participate and display the flag to honor deceased war veterans.
Thornton Township High School invites the public to an Industrial Education Project Fair and Open House in the new Technical Education Building. judging runs 5 to 6 pm, exhibits open 6 30 to 8 pm, with awards in four categories and a display of award winners for regional and state fairs.
The Thornridge Boys Club rents the A and Standard Service Station at Sibley and Chicago for a Saturday event on May 26. Profits benefit the club and a Thornridge boy's European trip this summer through the American Field Service.
Thornridge High School students elected four officers for the 1923 83 school year. Jack Calenders of South Holland is first vice president Nancy Nelson of Dalton is second vice president Marcia McDonnett of Bolton is secretary and Pat Fleming of Dolton is treasurer. The elections gave students a representative leadership experience and practiced democracy.
The annual Spring Concert of School District 148 features the Concert Band and Chorus directed by Americo J. Meneghini on Friday May 25 at 8 pm in Roosevelt School gym at 146th and LaSalle. The Festival of Youth program includes Our Glorious Land Youth of America Blaze of Glory Hymn to America God Bless America and more. The concert emphasizes patriotism and loyalty to the country with the chorus joining in selections.
Riverdale village board on February 25 1958 passed an ordinance regulating garbage disposal requiring refuse containers and detailing penalties for violations. A pamphlet explaining the ordinance is available at the village clerk's office in the municipal building at 142nd and Stewart.
