Branigar Bros Model Home Opens in Ivanhoe Subdivision

The Branigar Brothers opened their Ivanhoe subdivision model home to thousands of visitors on the 6th with many real estate leaders praising its layout and furnishings. The day saw 5000 visitors register, Tauber Furniture Co supplying the pieces, and speeches by Branigar staff including O C Stein and Bassler. Several local housing projects and a viaduct proposal on 142nd Street were noted, along with ongoing excavations for flats on Clark Street and School Street.

Village boards address cross street viaduct and code

The village board referred a bridge crossing at Clark Street to the attorney and considered a municipal code with input from Thomas A. Matthews of the Illinois Municipal League. A plan to use the Indiana Harbor Belt and Illinois Central lines was discussed. Purchasing an adding machine for the collector's office was authorized.

Ivanhoe Supers To Play Full Season In South Suburban League

The Ivanhoe Supers of Dalton and Riverdale join the eight club South Suburban Baseball League. They opened with an 18 to 3 win over Matteson and seek the league crown, playing home games at Ivanhoe Diamond located at 142nd and LaSalle. Chicago Heights is next on May 18.

Chicago Student Earns A Distinction for 33 A Grades

The University of Chicago announced Friday that two students earned grade A distinctions. One, Marion Joycé Richeson of 6911 Eggleston Avenue, Chicago, achieved 33 A’s over the four year curriculum. Continued on Page 8.

The Lowvale Bunco Club hosts a Bunco Party at Lund's hall on May 28 with prizes and refreshments. The Pirate Girls stage bunco and dance on May 19 to raise funds for basketball and tennis, coach Jim Propper. G. W. Spencer Relief Corps meets May 18 at Riverdale village hall with reception for Department President Kathryn Antrim and Commander Harper. Officers urged May 16 practice at 2 p.m. for a special drill. The Ladies of Our Saviour's church host the Second Annual Mothers and Daughters Banquet on May 17 at the church parlors with talks by Mrs. C. E. Paulus and a Now and Then sketch and a mother-daughter duet.
