Judge Rules Democratic Names to Appear on Thornton Ballot
Judge Michael McKinlay in Chicago superior court ordered Thornton township to print the Democratic party and candidates on the April 1 ballot. The decision ended a mandamus suit by Arthur E. Dillner against Township Clerk William H. Witterhoff, who had refused to include the Democratic slate under the new primary law. The court found section 365 of the primary law vague and invalid. Campaign events proceed with Democratic, Republican, and Independent parties staging programs and radio addresses in the lead up to election day.
