Tragedy in South Bound Yard Bunker
Felipe Pardo a 22 year old single man from Hammond Indiana died last Friday in a railroad bunker aboard a C E I line car. A charcoal heater exhausted oxygen and released deadly fumes. Police and a pulmoter attempted revival but the man was pronounced dead at Bachmans morgue. Funeral held Sunday at St Josephs cemetery Hammond.

Calumet District Seeks 1.8 Million Sewer Project
The Sanitary District of Chicago plans a seven mile intercepting sewer to connect with the Calumet treatment plant costing about 1.5 million dollars. The work will serve Riverdale, Harvey, Dalton, South Holland and Phoenix with completion expected in one year, starting by May. Additional extensions are under study to purge Calumet river of sewage and divert it to the plant for purification. William Kurtz of Riverdale is hospitalized after a November paralytic stroke.
