Western Indiana R R cuts suburban trains to Dolton
The Western Indiana Railroad will issue a new time card effective Wednesday June 27 reducing suburban trains from Chicago to Dolton from seven to four and increasing immobility for workers in Dolton Riverdale and nearby as the first train departs at 8 07 rather than 5 40 and 6 50. A petition may be circulated to restore at least one earlier train.

Slarvey Lodge Elks dug the first spade of earth for a new 90000 dollar clubhouse at the corner of Center avenue and another street. Paul A. Beginning next week women will perform men’s work and receive men’s wages at the Ryan Car Company plant in Hegewisch. A dozen or more women are already hired and may report once wash room facilities meet state factory laws. They will wear bloomers and work in labor gangs inside and in the yard earning 30 cents per hour with many more to follow after September 1.
