Mrs. Frederick Schmidt age 75 11 11 died at her son Dr Frederick W 13620 Indiana Riverdale after a lingering illness. Born August 13 1831 in Dellien Germany she emigrated 1852 to Wisconsin 1853 to Chicago married in 1853 and settled in Riverdale. Survived by sons Dr Frederick W and Gustav A and three grandchildren. Funeral Friday at 1 pm at home Rev A E Helm officiating. Remains interred Oakland Cemetery beside husband.

Bernhart Engel born February 16 1831 in Bavaria Germany died July 25 1907 at age 76 5 15. He married Henrietta Saak February 5 1855 and had six sons Andrew Fred Frank John George Ernest and daughter Clara with his wife. He emigrated to America in 1853 lived near Dalton farmed and worked as mason and plasterer. Funeral Saturday 1:30 pm at home and 2:00 pm at church Rev. Charles Hedler officiating. burial at Berger Station cemetery.

Engine Blowout at Chicago Brick Plant Causes Scare
The Corliss engine cylinder head blew out Monday afternoon at the Chicago Brick Company plant. Workers were startled but none were hurt. Repairs will take several weeks before the engine runs again.

Fred Hameister Named Foreman at Nelson Morris Ice Co
Fred Hameister accepted the foreman post at Nelson Morris Ice Company in Fox Lake Illinois with full charge of packing and shipping ice. The company will build him a cottage and he plans to move his family there in a couple months. He previously supervised at Knickerbocker Ice Company and now works at Chicago Brick Company yards. Fox Lake, a noted summer resort, hosts his new assignment.

The Lake Shore and Michigan Southern and the Baltimore and Ohio will construct a $250000 joint passenger station in Gary Indiana. Calumet Camp and Harvey Camp of Modern Woodmen held a banquet at Riverdale Village Hall with toastmaster John A Verhoven. Members welcomed twenty five new Woodmen in two months.
